Francis SILVER

Notes:

On Feb. 24, 1941, at the age of 17 he enlisted in the Army Infantry of Company I. He fought in the Pacific Theatre, Marshall Islands and Guadalcanal. While serving on the Battleship "Coolidge" his ship was sunk. When he joined the service, he weighed 185 pounds. After contracting malaria and being honorably discharged on October 18, 1945, he returned to Vermont weighing 112 pounds. For his service Mr. Silver received a Bronze Star. For several years, Mr. Silver played semi-pro football with the Shamrocks in Bennington

Died at the Vermont Veterans Home.
