The PRDH certificate No. 214940 lists Marguerite Coutu's parents as Jacques Coutu and Marguerite Saintgermain.. They are half right. Jacques Coutu married Marie Louise Brisard St. Germain 1748-03-15. They had a daughter Marguerite Coutu b.1756-04-05 in Berthier. It was she who married Pierre Goulet 1781-07-16 in Berthier. The original parish records of the marriage of Pierre Botino and Margaret Coutu state that Pierre Bottineau was a widower of Marie Angelique Joly. Marie Coutu was the daughter of Rene Coutu and Marguerite Brisar dite St. Germain. It does not say she was a widow. (Paroisse Ste Genevieve, Berthierville, Co. Berthier Que, Jan 12,1789).
