In 1961, after the death of her sister-in-law, Bertha, she and her husband took over the responsibility of overseeing the care of Bertha's 10 children. One of their nieces, Carol, moved in with them at that time. Over the years, many of Bertha's children lived with Henry and Yvonne

It was a lumbering settlement with a mill, boarding house, etc. on the CP Railroad. It was located west of Jackman not far from the Canadian border.
