Louis DURAND

Notes:

Louis Durand was born to Louis Durand and Elizabeth-Agnes Michel on 13 Aug 1700 in Quebec City. He was the oldest child and he moved to the Lanoraie area with his father, step-mother and the rest of the family sometime before 1724.

Louis married Marie-Anne Demers on 22 Jan 1725 at Sorel by the priest of the L'lle Dupas Parish, Jean baptiste Arnaud. Louis & Marie had 16 children. Most of them were born at Lanoraie. Marie was actually his step sister since his father married Marie's mother, Jean Houde.

Louis died in 1776 at Ste Genevieve, Berthier, Quebec at the age of 76.

Louis married Marie-Anne DEMERS on 22 Jan 1725 in Sorel, Qc. Marie-Anne (daughter of Pierre DEMERS and Marie-Jeanne HOUDE) was born about 1704 in Ste-Famille, Ile d'Orléans, Qc. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

1. Jean-Baptiste DURAND was born on 23 Jul 1735 in Lanoraie, Berthier, Qc; died in 1797 in Berthier, Berthierville, Qc.

Notes:

Louis was the third child of Jean Durand and Catherine Annennotak. His father died in 1671 when he was less than one year old. He was then raised by his mother & stepfather, Jacques Coutourier.

Louis was a voyageur with his brother Ignace & half brothers, Charles & Mathurn. He traded beyond the trading posts of Sault Ste Marie & was probably in the Wisconsin-Minnesota region (land of the Sioux) prior to 1700. Louis married Elizabeth-Agnes Michel in 1698 in Quebec. His son Louis was born on 13 Aug 1700 in Quebec. The familty then moved across the St. Lawrence to St. Nicolas de Tilly where Elizabeth had nine other children. Elizabeth died in 1718. Louis then married Jeanne Houde in 1719
at St. Nicolas de Tilly. This was her third marriage. She & Louis had four children.

Louis moved from St. Nicholas to Lavaltrie/Lanoraie, south of Three Rivers & Sorrel, before 1724. Most of his children married in the Lavaltrie area & Established their families there. Louis died between 1738 & 1741. His second wife, Jeanne Houde, died on April 5, 1749 at Lavaltrie.

Louis married Élisabeth-Agnès MICHEL on 9 Sep 1698 in Sillery, Qc. Élisabeth-Agnès (daughter of Olivier MICHEL-TAILLON and Madeleine CAUCHON) died on 12 May 1718 in St-Nicolas-de-Tilly, Qc. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Olivier married Madeleine CAUCHON on 24 Nov 1671 in Château-Richer, Montmorency, Qc. Madeleine (daughter of Jean CAUCHON and Madeleine MIVILLE) was born on 16 Feb 1655 in Québec, Qc; died on 28 Dec 1698 in Hotel-Dieu, Québec, Qc. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Jean married Madeleine MIVILLE on 20 Nov 1652 in Québec, Qc. Madeleine (daughter of Pierre MIVILLE and Charlotte MAUGIS) was born on 18 Nov 1636 in France; died on 16 Sep 1708 in Château-Richer,QC. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
