    Michel Wolf was born abt. 1756 in Busstau, Wurzburg, Germany. He was a member
    of the Brunswick Dragoon Regiment, Prinz Ludwig. The regiment was raised in
    1688 and became dragoon regiment in 1772. They arrived in Quebec June 1, 1776
    and served in Burgoyne's Campaign in 1777. Many men were lost at Bennignton,
    Vermont. Survivors returned to Canada where the regiment was strengthened by
    new recruits from Europe. Michel was discharged in Canada in 1783. On
    October 6, 1789, he married Marie Genevieve Lamothe-Cochon in L'Assomption,
    Quebec. Most of the descendants of Michel Wolf remained in Quebec and now
    spell the surname, Wolfe.
