    Auteur de: Mémoires sur les moeurs des Sauvages de l'Amérique Septentrionale, édité en 1864 à Paris (Sulte, Benjamin, Mélanges historiques).

    Interprète, diplomate et négociateur de plus haute importance pour la Nouvelle France il l'un des artisan de la paix des peuples des Grands Lacs avec les français.

    Il partait pendant presque 40 ans aux pays d'en haut ou il négociait la paix entre les nations qui était amis des français ou pour les inviter à des guerres contre les Iroquois.

    Nicolas Perrot partait également pour faire la traite. Mais il était très maladroit et malchanceux.

    Ainsi il part en 1685 sous demande du gouverneur Brisay de Denonville aller inviter les Illinois, Puants, Renards et Sauteux de prendre le sentier de la guerre pour aller écraser les Tsonnontouans. Après avoir détruit 5 villages tsonnontouans il retournait à son entrepôt de pelleteries qu'il avait laissé à la mission jésuite de Saint-François-Xavier dans la baie des Puants. La traite avait été fort bonne cette année-là. Perrot avait récolté des pelleteries pour une valeur de 40 000 livres, une fortune. Mais il retrouvait ses peaux calcinées. Un incendie avait tout ravagé.

    En 1710, il était de surcroît nommé capitaine de la côte de Bécancour et commandant de la milice locale. Il mourut totalement ruiné constamment harcelé par ses nombreux créanciers. Le gouverneur lui versait une maigre pension.

    Il avait entrepris de rédiger ses mémoires et de faire le récit de ses aventures. Il ne put terminer, faute de papier.

    Elle s'occupait de ses six enfants, les 18 arpents de terre et les 6 bêtes à corne.
