Navy veteran WWII
After the war, he spent many years riding the rails working long hours for the Great Northern RR. A train accident in 1969 ended his RR career and he and Jessie bought and ran the Viking Motel in Willmar.
They lived many years in Minnesota (Minneapolis and Willmar) as well as Arkansas and Mississippi before retiring to Georgia.
Jessie and Al spent their last few years in Jasper, Ga.

Died:
He also enjoyed the trip to Alaska with his wife, the Southern Belle that he loved dearly. After she passed, it took two days for the reality to set in and he died quickly of a broken heart.

Buried:
As they requested to be sprinkled in the ocean and 'someplace pretty,' their children put them together off the coast of Key West.

Notes:

She obtained a pilot¹s license (a rare thing then for a woman) and traveled to Seattle Wa. to help the war effort and find adventure.
She flew through the air in planes, balloons and a parachute.

Died:
She had class and style and in early September greatly enjoyed a visit to Anchorage and a 7-day Alaskan cruise. But her frail body couldn¹t keep up with her strong spirit and her body gave out on a stop in San Francisco, Ca. on her way back to the Georgia mountains.

Buried:
