Maurice Pasquier ou Paquet (1641-1715) est l'un des enfants de Méry Pasquier (1614-1680), originaire de Poitiers en France. Il est du voyage lorsque son père gagne la Nouvelle-France en 1667, accompagné de sa seconde femme, Renée Guillocheau. En 1675, Méry Pasquier cède sa concession de Bourg-Royal (Charlesbourg) et tous ses biens à Maurice, qui a épousé Françoise Forget. Huit ans plus tard, Maurice Pasquier est engagé par Pierre Denys de La Ronde , propriétaire d'une terre à la Canardière , dans la seigneurie de Notre-Dame-des-Anges. Il s'acquitte si bien de sa tâche qu'il peut acquérir la ferme en 1690. Mais à l'automne de cette année-là, les soldats de William Phips débarquent à la Canardière, y semant la destruction. Maurice reconstruit dès que possible sa maison incendiée et continue d'exploiter sa terre. Trois de ses six enfants, Louis, Jacques et François, perpétueront cette lignée de Pasquier. Avec les années, le patronyme se transformera en Pasquet puis en Paquet.
