8263 | After the fall of the French fortress of Louisbourg in July 1758, the victorious British swooped down on the rest of the island, rounded up most of the Acadians still there, and deported them to France. Three Boutin sisters, Josèphe, Anne, and Gillette-Théotiste, daughters of Pierre, were transported to St.-Malo, France, aboard the English transport Duke William with their mother and stepfather Jean Pineau. Josèphe died at sea. Anne survived the crossing. Gillette-Théotiste also survived the crossing but died at the hospital in St.-Malo 10 days after the ship arrived in November 1758; she was only 12 years old. 8270 | Age 25 on the 1681 census (Jette p 666); burial record spells her surname as DeSault. The writing is cramped and difficult to read but I believe it said "Subitement sans salvement/sauvement". Her age was recorded as 69, this is not likely as she would then have to have married Jean Lavallee at 9. | DUSSON, Marguerite (I8118)
