VINCENT BRAULT (1631-1686)
Ancestor of the Brault Acadians

Vincent Brault married Marie Bourg, daughter of Antoine Bourg and Antoinette Landry, about 1661 in Port Royal, Acadie.

Vincent Brault is the ancester of all Acadians bearing the names of Brault, Breault, Breaud, Braud, Brot, Bro, Breaux, etc. He arrived in Acadia around 1652 at the age of 21. Little is known about him, except what is said in the 1671 census:

Vincent Brot, labourer, age 40; his wife, Marie Bourg, age 26.
Their children: Marie, age 9; Antoine, age 5, Marguerite, age 3, Pierre, age 1.
9 cattle and 7 sheep. 4 acres of cultivated land.

In the 1686 census, Vincent Brault is deceased. The census details:

Marie Bourg, widow of Vincent Brault; Children: Antoine, 20, Marguerite, 18, Pierre, 16, Anne 14, François, 12, Jean, 10, Marie-Elizabeth, 9, Jeanne, 6, René, 3, Suzanne, 1.
6 cattle and 4 sheep.

The eldest daughter, Marie, was married to Germain Savoie. She had two sons, Germain, 5 and François, 2.

Vincent married Marie BOURG about 1661 in Port Royal, Acadie. Marie (daughter of Antoine BOURG and Antoinette LANDRY) was born about 1645 in Port Royal, Acadie; died on 19 Sep 1730 in Port Royal, Acadie; was buried on 19 Sep 1730 in Port-Royal, Acadie. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. Antoine BRAULT was born about 1666.
3. Marguerite BRAULT was born about 1668; died after 1714.

5. Son BRAULT was born about 1671.
6. Anne BRAULT was born in 1673.
7. François BRAULT was born about 1674; died after 1755.
8. Jean BRAULT was born about 1678; died on 17 Apr 1751 in Port Royal, Acadie.
9. Marie BRAULT was born about 1680; was buried on 20 Dec 1742 in St-Francois-du-Sud, Qc.
10. Jeanne BRAULT was born about 1684.
11. René BRAULT was born about 1685; died on 17 Dec 1768 in St-Ours-sur-Richelieu, Qc.
