    Gustav Baanrud 1859-1935

    Gustav N. Baanrud, 76 years of age and a resident of Clearwater County for 39 years, died last Saturday evening, November 16, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Lundmark of Bagley.
    He had been in poor health for the last six years. For the last few months he had been in very bad condition, and in a coma most of the time lately, requiring a great deal of care.. He had been in a coma for a couple of days before his death. On Saturday evening Mrs. Lundmark, while at the bakery, felt the impulse to run over to the house to see him. He was conscious for a few minutes when she arrived, recognized her, whispered her name, and died.
    Mr. Baanrud was born in Norway March 11, 1859, and came to Iowa with his parents at the age of 11years. He was united in marriage there to Ragnhild Haugen and a few years later he moved with his family to a farm south of Fosston, where they lived until 1896, when he filed on a homestead near Berner. He lived there until ten years ago when he gave up farming and moved to Bagley to make his home with his daughter.
    The funeral service will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at the Bethania Church near Berner, with interment in the cemetery there by the side of his wife who died 12 years ago. Buried there also are five children who died in infancy.
    Left to mourn are five daughters: Mrs. Frank Lundmark of Bagley, Mrs. Ben Bauten (this must be Benjamin Boutin) of Littlefork, Mrs. Caroline Widseth of McIntosh, Mrs. James Clemenson of Gonvick, Mrs. Halvor Fundring of Grafton, North Dakota; one son, Gundar Baanrud of Bagley; 36 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
